Immediate Action Required – Insurance Requirements for Boat Operators

What you Need to Know:
A recent review of our boat insurance policy revealed that many of our members are not covered by our insurance plan. Specifically, we have discovered that the policy stipulates that, “No coverage is provided by this policy during water vessel operation and use unless the vessel is operated by the person or persons named below:”

If your name is NOT listed above, you are NOT covered by the Association’s boat insurance policy and you may not operate any of the Association’s boats (even if you are holding a confirmed reservation). Even if you have boat insurance that covers a boat that you operate but do not own, you still must be listed on the Association boat policy to operate an Association boat.

What you Need to Do:
Property owners who wish to utilize any of the community pontoon boats should submit their name, driver license number, state of issue, and date of birth to undergo a (successful) motor vehicle records check and be added to the list of covered individuals. Please send your information to steven.marmon@me.com.

It is our understanding that any property owner with a valid driver license will be able to pass the motor vehicle records check – unless the driver has accumulated enough points to subject his/her license to suspension. However, the Association does not know the criteria for a successful records check.

We apologize for the inconvenience and sincerely appreciate your understanding.
