Dear Fellow Members,
Two (2) weeks ago, we notified HOA members that a newly-discovered provision of the HOA’s marine insurance does not provide coverage to the entire group of community boat operators. As a result, boating operation by non-insurance-covered members was suspended until the uninsured members could be added to the community boat policy. Members interested in operating a community pontoon were asked to submit their drivers license information so that they could be added to the list of covered boat operators. A total of 35 members responded almost immediately and were submitted to the insurance company for underwriting of coverage. A smaller group of individuals responded after the first batch of names was submitted to the insurance company. The smaller group (approximately 5 people) will be submitted after the first batch is processed.
Unfortunately, the underwriting process has taken longer than we initially anticipated. We are in daily contact with our insurance agent and have been assured that the new list of covered boat operators will be issued soon. However, we do not have a firm commitment on when the underwriting process will be complete. As soon as the new list is issued, each newly-covered person will be notified. Be assured that the HOA leadership team is sensitive to everyone’s dissatisfaction with the situation. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.
